Cereal boxes and next book club

Kerri brought this fantastic idea - cereal box book reports - to my attention and I am going to suggest to my group that we do them.   Each person on your team can do a different book.  What a fun project!  Here are some directions.

Our next book club will be The Hobbit.  Location still TBD - Michelle and I are figuring it out.  How does Friday, March 27 look?  We could do another book-related lunch (lembas?  plate breaking?), some crafts/activities, and discussion.  Let me know via email if you are interested in attending and if that date works for you.

Thanks for a great book club!

Thank you to Joyce, Kerri, Michelle, Rachael, and Gena who brought their kids, some food, and a lot of positive energy to our house for our 1st book club meeting.  The kids had a blast doing crafts, discussing the book, and also having a bit of fun together. We decided we will meet again and were thinking of The Hobbit as a good book club book.

For those on the edge of their seat, dog L won the Winn-Dixie look alike contest.

A few things I forgot to discuss with the kids

1.  First impressions - What kind of judgments does Opal make about people (or even animals) when she first meets them, and how is she proved wrong?  What lesson does she learn?  Have you ever had an experience like this?

2.  Did you see the movie for this book?  Do you want to?  Why/why not?  What is your experience with books that you like being turned into movies?
