One week to go

Here's what you need to know

1.  We are going to run our battle next Thursday (May 7) from 12-3 at the Y in the multipurpose rooms (can't remember the name - they are the first ones on the left after the climbing room).  12-12:30 will be eating a picnic lunch together (BYO) and doing a brief rules review.  Then we will break for 3 battle rounds. We are going to run 2 battles at the same time - one with 2 teams and one with 3 teams.

2.  I  will need a few volunteers on the day of the battle.  I will need 2 readers and 2 timekeepers.  The readers will be responsible for reading the questions and recording points.  The timekeepers will be responsible for making sure the teams answer within their allotted time.  Let me know if you are willing to help.

3. I  will post rules this weekend and send out a note.  We will review them before the battle starts next Thursday.

4.  We could still use some good condition/high interest prize books for our prize table. A great way to clean space off your bookshelves.

QUESTIONS
We have 15 books with questions and only 5 to go.  This post has the full list of who has done what, but here are the ones that have not been submitted.  IF there's a book you want to do and someone else has signed up for it, feel free to contact that person and maybe you can split the work.  The more hands the merrier.

AUTHORS
During the "in which book" rounds, where the kids are given a question and have to come up with the book, they will get points for both the book and also the author.

PARTICIPATION
I am finalizing the schedule and how the battles will work.  Block your calendars from 12-3 on May 7 and I will let you know the specific details by the end of the week.  Since there are 5 teams, I am thinking we will have 2 battles going on at the same time and 1 team doing a solo lightning round.   As I am planning this out, I want to make sure all the teams are participating.  Team 1, the Saldia's won't be able to make it.  Are you guys OK as is, or do we need to shift kids around?

PRIZES
I have some bookmarks from the kids.  All kids will get to pick some books from the prize table.  Also, there will be a pizza party for the winning team at a later date.
