Battle Summary

Here's a review of the information we covered at the meeting and that was in our initial document.

Battle of the Books is a friendly quiz-show type competition between teams.  The students read books and are tested on their knowledge of the books as a team.

Goals for our program:

  • Have a blend of pre-selected books but also quiz kids on the “universe of books” - rewarding kids for being well-read
  • Allow parents to define the list of books - include curriculum books, favorite books, etc
  • Have fun (not too stressful)
  • Allow kids of mixed ages to participate together
  • Celebrate and inspire reading
